WINDOM COMMUNITY COUNCIL MINUTES
ANNUAL MEETING
OCTOBER 12, 2006
Members Present – Renee Dowson, Britta Reitan, David Evans, Pat Croal, Jacob Berning, Chad Evenson, Breanne Dalnes, Jessica Evenson, Pat Soulak, Mary Petersen, Heather Day, Mary Ubl.
President Pat Soulak made introductions & read the Code of Conduct
Special Guest – Council Member Scott Benson – Energy Challenge Fair at Hale School on October 16. Randy Noecker’s application to rezone the Mpls Meeting Rooms site was denied by the City Council. The Council adopted the Green Cleaning Amendment regarding the use of green cleaning supplies. Instant Run-off charter amendment will be on November’s ballot.
Windom’s Phase II Plan:
Phase II NRP – introduction – Mary Petersen
Housing Committee overview – Breanne Dalnes
Community Life overview – Mary Petersen
Crime & Safety – Mary Ubl
Economic Development – Pat Soulak
Windom residents in attendance voted unanimously to adopt Windom’s Phase II Neighborhood Revitalization Plan.
Committee Reports:
LASR-CC – Mary Ubl – The group will be working with Hennepin County to design the bridge over Minnehaha Creek. Representatives from Elliot Park and Kingfield neighborhoods attended the last meeting & advised the group how they work with prospective developers. They will discuss a development committee at the November meeting.
Communications – An editor is needed for the newsletter. Jan Norbeck has volunteered to help with the website. Ads need to be solicited for the newsletter.
Community Center – Jesse Rison gave a programming update. They will have mentors working with Windom kids – 2 mentors will be housed out of Windom.
Festival – 500-600 people attended this year’s festival. Dave Evan’s band played & they were wonderful. A reminder was made to board members to return festival signs.
Welcome Wagon – Brittta is ready to begin.
Treasurer – Doug estimated that the festival netted about $1,000.
Board Elections – Nominations were taken from the floor. Michael Mantooth and Jessica Doken were nominated. A motion was made to accept the nominations. Seconded. Adopted.
A motion was made to accept the nominations as a slate. Seconded. Adopted.
