We are seeing an increase in vehicle thefts due to the cold weather. People are leaving their vehicles running with the keys in them to warm them up on cold mornings. While this is a perfectly understandable response to frigid temperatures and ice cold car seats, you may pay a price for this. The fact is that auto theft jumps dramatically in Minneapolis as the temperature drops!

The City of Minneapolis recently summarized and reported several years of observations and recommendations about how the City engages residents and other community members in the City’s decision-making processes. The Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) and the City of Minneapolis want to know what you think about this important topic. Windom Community Council Minutes
January 11, 2007
Members Present: Pat Soulak, Dave Evans, Breanne Dalnes, Jacob Berning, Chad Evenson, Jessica Docken, Renee Dowson
Members Absent: Mike Mantooth, Jesse Rison, Britta Reitan, Pat Croal, Mary Petersen

President Renee Dowson called the meeting to order. Renee Dowson shared with the group that she attended a downtown meeting of the Senior Citizens Council and spoke with the Executive Director, Bob Miller. Each board member was given a flyer for upcoming joint meetings of the City of Minneapolis and the Neighborhood Revitalization Program that Bob is coordinating. Renee encouraged board members to attend as many of these meetings as possible. After this series of meetings, Renee would like to have Bob come to one of our council meetings and talk with us.

Reminder that articles for the Winter newsletter are due soon and get those in to Dave Evans.
Also reminder that the “1st Windom Adults Night Social at the Park” is this Friday night and is co sponsored by Windom Park South and the Windom Community Council from 7-9:30 pm. There will be volleyball, pool, music, movies , popcorn. Must be 21 or older.
