Weekend closure of I-35W and Hwy 62 in Minneapolis: Sept. 7-10

All lanes of I-35W from I-94 to Hwy 62/Crosstown and westbound Hwy 62 from Cedar Ave/Hwy 77 to Lyndale Ave S will be closed from approximately 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept 10. The work is part of the Interstate 35W/Highway 62 Crosstown reconstruction project. Heavy, sustained wind or rain could postpone the closure.

I-35W and Hwy 62 Closures September 7-10
Weather permitting; All lanes of I-35W from I-94 to Hwy 62/Crosstown and westbound Hwy 62 from Cedar Ave/Hwy 77 to Lyndale Ave S will be closed from approximately 10 pm on Friday, September 7 to 5 am on Monday, September 10. Crosstown Project-related work occurring over this weekend include demolition of the 50th Street bridge; drainage and temporary roadway construction; bridge work at the west and east junctions of I-35W and Hwy 62; placement of steel beams on the Diamond Lake Road bridge;and relocation of girders for the widening of the I-35W bridge over Minnehaha Creek. Motorists should follow posted detours.

Tentative Dates for Upcoming I-35W Weekend Closure
The next I-35W closure is tentatively being planned for the weekend of September 7, 2007. I-35W will be closed from I-94 to Hwy 62/Crosstown from approximately 10 pm on Friday, September 7 to 5 am on Monday, September 10. Construction activities done during this closure include demolition of the 50th Street bridge, work on the Diamond Lake Road bridge and work on I-35W over Minnehaha Creek. More details to follow in upcoming weekly updates.

Several “Slow Down!” signs were stolen from across the Armatage neighborhood earlier this week; residents believe they started disappearing around Sunday evening 8/6/07. The signs were provided by the Armatage Neighborhood Association to residents to place in their yards in an effort to remind drivers detouring through the streets due to the Crosstown reconstruction to keep an eye on their speed. They have been made available free to Armatage residents and for $5 to residents of other neighborhoods.
