TOT playground to be installed at Windom South Park by end of June

Greetings,

I am excited to announce the tot-lot as presented was ordered! I looked into replacing the spring rider with a piece of equipment targeted for older children and there was none that would fit. The spring ride can hold 1-3 kids on it and is very flexible so is a far greater challenge than we had all anticipated. (The playground rep challenged me to stand on one foot and see if I could balance!)

Windom Bi Annual meeting at The Museum of Russian Art

Tuesday, May 13th.

Social hour begins at 5:30 with (fake) wine and desserts, the meeting starts at 6pm.

Speakers will be Keith Ellisons aide, Commissioner Gail Dorfmann, Council member Scot Benson, Mpls Parks Planner Alexander Zachary.

Following the speakers, there will be a short board meeting to let the community know what the board is involved in. There will be board elections for open seats. The meeting will end at 7:15.

Twin Cities Bike Walk Week from May 12 to 18, 2008

The Biggest Celebration of Bicycling and Walking on BOTH Sides of the Mississippi. Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Anoka County Kick Off First Annual Twin Cities Bike Walk Week.

Over the past few years, Bike/Walk to Work Day successfully helped people in Minneapolis and St. Paul leave their cars and trucks at home and try pedaling or walking to their jobs. Building on that success, the Twin Cities region will celebrate the first-ever Twin Cities Bike/Walk Week from May 12 to 18, 2008.

MPS kindergarten requests up 16 percent

District expecting enrollment to rise in ’08-09 school year

MINNEAPOLIS – Minneapolis Public Schools has received 2,367 requests for
placement in kindergarten programs for the upcoming 2008-2009 school
year – 330 more requests than received last year, the district’s Student
Placement Office announced today.
